For corporate innovation and engineering teams

Startup and technology scouting in Taiwan for corporate innovation teams.

Turn a technology question into a screened shortlist your business unit can review. Yushan defines the search, checks the evidence and helps prepare the next conversation with the companies worth considering.

What technology scouting means

Find a relevant partner, not another long list.

Scouting starts with a problem or capability you need. It searches for startups, SMEs and technologies that could address it, then separates supported facts from claims and open questions. Your engineering and business teams decide which candidates deserve further work.

Define the search scope

  • The application and the gap in the current approach.
  • Required capability, maturity and route to integration.
  • Geography, timing and companies or propositions to exclude.
  • The business unit that will review the shortlist.
  • What a useful next step would be: a call, technical review or pilot discussion.

Technology areas

Our published work spans semiconductors and displays, edge AI and robotics, optics and sensing, microLED and advanced materials. Taiwan can be the search focus. Other markets can be included when the agreed brief calls for them.

Scouting is not supplier sourcing

Scouting asks which technology or company could solve a problem. Supplier sourcing asks who can manufacture or supply a defined part. If you already have a design and need quotes, use the Taiwan supply-chain route.

From brief to handoff

A shortlist should support a decision.

01

Agree the brief

Define the application, requirements and exclusions before searching. Record the questions the shortlist must answer.

02

Search and screen

Map relevant companies and technologies. Check public evidence and, where agreed, seek clarification from candidates.

03

Review with the business unit

Present a shortlist with sources, dates, gaps and reasons for inclusion. Keep the client's technical verdict separate from the scouting assessment.

04

Prepare the handoff

For selected candidates, help arrange the next discussion and record the questions for a possible pilot. A pilot is a separate decision, not an automatic result.

The number of candidates, depth of checking and handoff work depend on the agreed scope.

Sample deliverable structure

What a candidate brief should contain.

An illustrative blank structure, not a real client file or an invented startup. No client strategy, candidate data or confidential assessment is shown.

Evidence and capability

  • Company, product and the capability relevant to the agreed question.
  • Product maturity and available evidence, with unknowns left open.
  • Source link, publication date where available and date checked.
  • Clear distinction between a company claim and independently checked information.

Decision and next step

  • Reason for inclusion and the limits of the proposed fit.
  • Integration questions for the business unit to answer.
  • Client review: proceed, hold or decline, with the reason recorded.
  • Suggested next discussion and the conditions for a pilot decision.

Published information is not a substitute for technical testing, legal review or procurement checks. Those remain with the responsible specialists.

ABB Robotics: scouting with an engineering verdict.

Yushan screened AI and robotics companies in Japan and prepared technical dossiers for ABB's engineers to grade. The published case records fifteen shortlisted companies and the client's own reviews. It shows the working method, not a claim that a Japan engagement was a Taiwan project.

Advisory and scouting, not a fund

Yushan supports corporate technology decisions and partner discovery. We do not present a shortlist as an investment offer. Any investment introduction is a possibility, not a funding commitment.

What question should the shortlist answer?

Send the application, capability gap, preferred search markets, maturity requirement and the team that will review the results. Keep confidential requirements out of the first email until a sharing process is agreed.
